DirectConnect for DB2/MVS Connectivity Guide |
|
| About This Book |
This guide describes how to connect a server on a local area network (LAN) and an MVS mainframe so that DirectCONNECT for DB2/MVS can access the target Database 2 (DB2) database.
This guide supersedes two existing guides; DirectCONNECT for DB2/MVS Connectivity Guide for Microsoft Windows NT and DirectCONNECT for DB2/MVS Connectivity Guide for IBM RISC System/6000 AIX.
Information in this guide describes the properties and values you use to configure the LAN server and the MVS mainframe; however, it is not intended to be a complete guide to host communications.
This guide is for system administrators or communication specialists responsible for setting up communications for DirectCONNECT for DB2/MVS.
This guide is divided into several sections to provide you information on DirectCONNECT for DB2/MVS connectivity.
Section | Chapter |
|---|---|
Chapter 1, "Introduction," introduces the concept of connectivity between the MVS mainframe and the server, and the items you need to consider when configuring for connectivity. | |
Chapter 2, "Planning the Connection Configuration," contains a configuration task summary and a configuration checklist. | |
Chapter 3, "Configuring the MVS Mainframe for a TCP/IP Environment," describes the changes you must make to your TCP/IP mainframe environment to establish connectivity between the MVS mainframe and the server. | |
Chapter 4, "Configuring the MVS Mainframe for an LU6.2 Environment," describes the changes you must make to your LU6.2 mainframe environment to establish connectivity between the MVS mainframe and the server. | |
Chapter 5, "Configuring HP SNAplus," provides procedures for configuring HP SNAplus as your LAN communications software to establish connectivity. This chapter also contains instructions for testing the connection. | |
Chapter 6, "Configuring SNA Server/6000," provides procedures for configuring SNA Server/6000 as your LAN communications software to establish connectivity. | |
Chapter 7, "Configuring SNA Server for Windows NT," provides procedures for configuring SNA Server for Windows NT as your Windows NT LAN communications software to establish connectivity. | |
Chapter 8, "Testing Connectivity in a TCP/IP Environment," contains directions for testing your TCP/IP connection using the cicsping utility. | |
Chapter 9, "Testing Connectivity in an LU6.2 Environment," contains directions for testing your APPC/LU6.2 connection using the snaping utility. | |
Appendixes | Appendix A, "LU6.2 Configuration Worksheets," includes worksheets for each operating system on which you collect information for configuration. |
Appendix B, "LU6.2 Sample Networks,"contains definitions and parameter settings for two LU6.2 sample networks. | |
"Glossary" defines technical words used in this guide. |
