About This Book
This book is a technical reference manual that provides instructions for installing and running DirectConnect(TM) for Oracle.
Audience
This book is written for system administrators, database administrators, and users of DirectConnect for Oracle.
How to Use This Book
This book contains the following chapters:
- Chapter 1, "Introduction," contains a product overview and a discussion of required software and hardware.
- Chapter 2, "Installation," contains installation instructions, including setting environment variables, loading software and linking with Oracle.
- Chapter 3, "Running DirectConnect for Oracle," contains instructions for running DirectConnect for Oracle, including configuring and terminating DirectConnect for Oracle.
- Chapter 4, "Topics," contains a discussion of connection handling, text and image datatypes, passthrough mode, datatype conversion, and trace flags.
- Chapter 5, "RPC Handling," contains a reference manual for RPC handling.
- Appendix A, "Using sqledit,"provides instructions on using sqledit to modify the sql.ini and libtcl.cfg files.
- Appendix B, "Sample Configuration File," contains a sample configuration file.

- Click on the EBF Rollups entry.
You can research EBFs using the Technical Information Library, and you can download EBFs using Electronic Software Distribution (ESD).

If you are not a registered SupportPlus user, and you want to become one:
You can register by following the instructions on the Web.
To use SupportPlus, you need:
- A Web browser that supports the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), such as Netscape Navigator 1.2 or later
